Fitwalker at Superstar Gym in TriBeCa

Some might say New Yorkers are obsessed with boutique fitness classes. And some of us will pay almost any price for the best workouts, apparel, gear and accessories. Take one of my best friends, who has admitted to paying almost $1,120 per month on her fitness routine!
So what's about to be NYC's next fitness craze? After making a name for itself in the European health scene, Fitwalker, a results-driven cardio workout has recently launched in the U.S. for the first time, exclusively at Superstar Gym in TriBeCa.

The Fitwalker is a self-powered treadmill designed with group exercise in mind. Led by an expert instructor and set to a motivating, heart-pumping soundtrack, you’ll follow along with fun moves to increase balance, coordination and stamina. Both intense cardio and strength training intervals mix up the class, so you’re never bored!

During their first press class last month, I worked up a serious sweat. As a spin class fan I loved working on this machine because much like a spin bike, I could control the resistance and speed as I pushed myself to my limits. The Fitwalker may look like a treadmill, but it's powered by you! What's your favorite boutique fitness class? xo

Are You Really Supposed To Know If He’s “The One?”

Your best girlfriend says she knew her husband was “the one” when they shared their first kiss outside an East Village dive bar before hailing a cab on the night they met. The night they met?! Yes, she swears by it. He was different. She just felt something different. She knew she could spend the rest of her life with this stranger.

Ask any married couple and they can tell you the moment they know they had found the person they were destined to spend the rest of their days with. Maybe it was on their third date when they learned they were raised with the same religious beliefs and boarding school childhood. Or maybe it was two years in, after "taking a break", realizing they couldn’t live without each other.

When you love your boyfriend, when you can check his qualities off every blog sharing “10 Ways To Tell He’s The One,” how do you actually know he is? Are you really supposed to feel something different if he’s your Mr. Right? Just because you’re in love, you tell him everything, you’re comfortable together and he makes you laugh, does that mean this is the guy you’re going to spend the rest of your life with?

For the past two years I've been in love with a man who's become my best friend. There were highs and lows, like any relationship, but at the end of even the toughest day, we always wanted to end it together. I could confidently say I was in love, but when friends asked if he was "the one," I always shrugged and just repeated that I loved him. I never wanted to jinx anything or to live in a storybook-ending fantasy before either of us were even financially ready for that type of commitment.

Some couples may move in together after a few months of dating, while others are together for years and years until finally taking the leap into marriage. I've always believed you've got to follow your own timing depending on where you are in life. Career success and financial stability are important to consider in matters of the heart. Because in an expensive city like New York, you've got to be stable before you can walk down the aisle.

As my twenty-ninth birthday is quickly approaching, somehow making things feel more serious by the mention of a simple number, our relationship has been faced with bumps and bruises. Do we need this "break," this time on our own to take care of ourselves, to find each other down the road as both emotionally stronger and happier people? Or are these types of separations meant to lead you down a different path, with another man?

Every couple is different. Plain and simple. You can't compare your heartbreaks, fights or dramas with your friends' relationships. Some couples need time apart to better themselves for a strong future together. Others know right off the bat that they've found their other half and can't imagine being without each other. But, either way, should a couple "just know" they've found their one and only at some point during their relationship? If you don't know, are you just wasting time with the wrong person?

I’ve been told, “if you don’t know if he’s the one, that’s your answer.” Do you agree? Or do you think sometimes it just takes time to grow to realize you’ve found your soulmate? xo

What To Do In NYC This Weekend, August 16 - 18

(View at a recent GAB+AB rooftop pool party I had a blast at!)
Does a long week in the office make you want to cheat on your diet? Fried chicken may just be the answer for your Friday night comfort food meal. Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken opened last week in the East Village with a long line of hungry neighbors excited for a free lunch handed out to celebrate the new restaurant. I've yet to check it out - hopefully this weekend - but you know you can trust Robert Sietsema's opinion, which he shares here.

On Saturday, August 17, party poolside at Jimmy at The James rooftop bar with the lovely Gab+Ab! From 4-9pm there will be expertly crafted Bulldog Gin cocktails, a rockin' DJ and a live performance by LVRS Ramone. RSVP@GabAndAb.com to be a part of their last pool party of the summer. You won't want to miss this!

If you're exhausted from day drinking - and partying well into Saturday night - just sleep in late Sunday, August 18, so you'll be refreshed for Tiki Disco, happening at the recently opened Playland Motel in Rockaway. While Brooklynites have always flocked to Tiki Disco parties at Roberta's in Bushwick, Playland is the perfect new venue to host the music-fueled parties with it's Montauk-meets-hipster vibe. The party starts at 3pm and goes until "late" for a Sunday Funday, the Tiki Disco way.

This weekend I'll be celebrating some special mommas with a baby shower at Brooklyn Winery on Saturday and a christening on Sunday in New Jersey. I'll have to sneak in some single city girl time for cocktails! xo

The Bradford Method in East Hampton

(Photo of my class via J Public Relations Instagram)

There are still a few weekends left this summer to head out East to enjoy the beach, fresh seafood and chic pool parties the Hamtpons has always been known for. In between all of your seaside indulging, make sure to check out The Bradford Method in East Hampton, one of this season's newest - and best - fitness classes.

The Bradford Method was started in New York City by former professional dancer and Pilates instructor Shonda Bradford, focusing on the needs of individual clients in the comfort of one-on-one sessions. Shonda is the first and only owner of the Garuda in the U.S., a special piece of equipment used to strengthen and train her clients for serious results.

Combining traditional Pilates, dance and her own techniques, Shonda will have you working muscles you didn’t realize you could reach. During my afternoon press trip, she had us stretching, strengthening and stabilizing our bodies like none of us had done before in any other boutique fitness environment! Shonda's encouraging words and warm personality helped us to make it through the challenging class.
(Who wouldn't want to workout under beautiful chandeliers?)
This East Hampton studio is her first space where she’ll be teaching small group sessions of the Bradford Method, as well as an upbeat “Barre Class with a Bounce” for a fun cardio workout with mini trampolines.

Shonda has an all around healthy attitude about fitness and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. She's got great advice to give any first time or devoted clients on eating well and getting the best benefits out of your workouts.

Treat yourself on your next Hamptons weekend - or play hooky during the week - and book a semiprivate, private or Trampoline Barre class now!

Summer Weekend In Boston

Hello, my long lost readers and loves! It seems like forever since I've shared with you where to dine, how to date and what to do in NYC. This summer has been hectic taking on a new social media role, continuing my freelance writing for CBS New York and balancing my own social life. A girl can't spend every night behind her computer screen - not even a blogger!

Last weekend I took a mini vacation to Boston to visit my sister and to treat her to the Justin Timberlake and Jay Z's Legends of The Summer Tour. She's been dying to see JT in concert since his days in N'SYNC, so it was finally time to give in to buying her tickets!

Here's a quick glimpse into our weekend from my Instagram.
We started each morning with a "bucket" of coffee from P.S. Gourmet in Southie near my sister's apartment. For a wicked good laugh, check out one of their local commercials from a couple years back. This little shop has all of the flavors a caffeine addict like myself could only dream about! If you're in Boston, make sure to stop by for the P.S. Special (Cinnamon Hazelnut iced coffee with mocha and whipped cream)!

Brunching at Stephanie's on Newbury is always a must for people watching and make-your-own bloody marys!

I rocked my new bracelet from AD Jewelry at the bar and concert. How cute is it? You can shop more of her vintage and new styles on Etsy.

Hope you're all enjoying this warm - and humid - summer in New York City. I'll be back soon with more original posts for your reading - and commenting - pleasure! xo
