When looking to plan the perfect date night, there’s always so much to consider to find the right venue. From an intimate dimly lit ambiance to shareable bites to keep you tasting and conversing, the West Village is home to many restaurants and wine bars that will fit the bill. Sotto13 is the newest date night destination to open in the neighborhood, satisfying all of the romantic requirements.
|(Crostini and White Cosmo)|
Start with a few crostini, like the sweet and savory Fig Jam, Prosciutto and Gorgonzola or the veggie-friendly Eggplant Caponata. Tapas make for a sexy way to kick off your night, along with cocktails like their strong, yet saccharine Mango Margarita with Pavoneo Blanco Tequila, mango puree and fresh lime juice or for SATC fans, the White Cosmo with Belvedere, St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur and white cranberry for an innovative twist on Carrie Bradshaw’s classic.
|(Spicy Fennel Sausage Pizza)|
Have fun picking and choosing from their long list of wood-fired thin crust pizzas, like the Spicy Fennel Sausage and Caramelized Onion with mozzarella and sauce for a kick of heat or Pollo with Bel Paese, spicy braised chicken and ricotta, almost a tribute to chicken parm.
For main plates to share, Rosemary-Thyme and Garlic Shrimp is a light and healthy dish packed with flavor. For the carnivore, the Fennel Sausage and Roasted Pepper is great for nibbling without the carb-heavy worries of a traditional sausage and pepper hero.
This “Social Italian” restaurant is all about sharing delicious food in a hip space. While Sotto 13 is ideal for a date, it’s also great for a girls’ night out, offering strong, creative cocktails, small plates for sharing and large banquet seating in the back to hold court for a serious gossip session.
