Whenever my parents are in town, we make a mandatory stop at The National Cafe Restaurant on Rivington for a caffeine fix. We discovered this spot almost a year ago, when they first opened their doors. My dad thinks that they have the best cappuccino in NYC. I’m a fan of their strong iced coffee and latte, while my mom is happy with their decaff. The owner/barista is so sweet and friendly. She even remembers my parents on each visit! We have tried a few pastries, which are always fresh and flavorful. We have yet to stay for brunch or dinner, but the menu makes me drool. We always sit at the bar to enjoy our treats. There are a few tables and one large booth in this small café, which are usually occupied by East Village fashionistas and Euro hipsters. The back wall is lined with eclectic mirrors in varied shapes and sizes. Hanging globe lamps illuminate the space and reflect light on the white tiled side wall. Next time you’re shopping or dining in the LES, stop by The National for a coffee pick me up! The National Café. 8 Rivington St.
Have a lovely weekend xo
