The city is filled with nail salons and spas in every neighborhood, sometimes a few on the same block. Because of the abundance of choices, most of these shops must keep the prices low to attract clients. In the East Village, there are a few nail salons that I’ve discovered to have cheap prices, a clean space, and quick yet efficient service.
Top A Nail is just a couple blocks from my apartment. This busy little salon is one of the cleanest in the area, decorated with an Asian inspired interior. A manicure and pedicure costs $23. You can add a ten minute leg or back massage for $10, which makes this deal feel more luxurious. They have a great selection of the latest Essie and OPI polishes. Top A is always busy, so be prepared to wait on a weekend afternoon.
Sun Tan Nail boasts one of the cheapest manicure and pedicure combinations - $18! The salon is a no frills room, with random posters on display. Tanning services are available for $10 for 10-13 minutes. I have gotten an eyebrow wax a few times there for $6, when I’m too lazy to go to Uni K in Murray Hill. The wax is done quickly and the eye brow shaping is just right. They also offer a Brazilian wax for $20, but I’m honestly not about to get that done at a little nail salon, even though the rooms appear sanitary and tidy. I will keep that to a spa-only treatment.
Top Beauty Spa is my new go-to spot on 2nd Avenue. The manicure and pedicure is $24. Ask for Tony for a chip-free manicure, a relaxing leg rub during your pedicure, and for an additional $11 he will give you a relaxing ten minute neck and back massage that will make your long day of lugging groceries and an over sized purse a forgotten memory. They are open late (until 10pm), which is perfect for those last minute manicures for a date night. The best perk is their frequent customer card: buy ten manicures then get one free!
Where do you go for a cheap mani-pedi? xo
